Attachment Factor, for Glass Cover Slide

Introduction

Attachment Factor™ (4Z0-210-S) is an extracellular matrix (ECM) product specifically designed for use with glass rather than plastic. This product promotes cell attachment to glass tissue culture surfaces and encourages correct polarity and cytoskeletal organization. 4Z0-500-S also contributes to correct in vitro growth factor and biological response modifier presentation.

The biologically active elements of Attachment Factor™ are derived by a chromatographic process from heat-inactivated charcoal-stripped fetal bovine serum, and delivered at 1X in a PBS based HEPES-buffered collagen vehicle. CSC exclusively uses and strongly recommends the use of serum products 100% traceable to cattle processed in the US at USDA inspected facilities.

Purpose

Use of Attachment Factor™ improves plating efficiency, shortens "lag time" after passage, enhances growth rates, and promotes the organization of polarity and cytoskeletal architecture, and can dramatically increase cell yield during cell culture expansion. Use with all cultures EXCEPT Melanocyte and Keratinocyte cells.

Use

 

Use of Attachment Factor™ in passaging cells:

1. Follow the PRG instructions for preparation of the cells for subculture.

2. Wet the tissue culture surface(s) with warmed Attachment Factor™ (at 37°C).

3. Remove the excess Attachment Factor™ and add CSC Complete Medium.

4. The surface is activated for use immediately: rinsing or drying are not required or recommended.

5. Inoculate the culture at once according to the Medium Kit instructions.

6. Incubate at 37°C, 5% CO2, 100% humidity. Feed according to Kit instructions.

Use of Attachment Factor™ in thawing cells:

1.  Refer to the PRG Instructions for subculture and Cell Freezing Instructions for thawing.  

2. Prepare the new culture surface using Attachment Factor™.

  (a) Warm Attachment Factor™ to 37°C in  the water bath.

  (b) Wet the culture surface to be inoculated with Attachment Factor™.

  (c) Aspirate and discard excess.  Rinsing and/or drying are NOT necessary.

3. The culture may be inoculated at once.
